The Spanish Technical Building Code (Código Técnico de la Edificación: CTE) is the standard framework outlining the requirements in the regulations with which buildings must comply with regard to basic safety and being fit for human use, as established in [Spanish] Law 38/1999 of 5th November, relating to Planning Laws (Ordenación de la Edificación: LOE).
As of 18th December 2015, the support document DB-SUA 2 has been updated and is now called, "The Effective Adaptation of Accessibility in Existing Buildings".
The aim of the "Basic Document" (DB) described is to establish the rules and procedures required to ensure basic safety in the use of and for accessibility requirements to be met for all refurbishment works requiring adaptation for lifts and other elevation and accessibility mechanisms to be installed.
Supporting Document DA DB-SUA/2 establishes, in a clear and concise manner, the flexibility and tolerance limit criteria required when adapting existing buildings to DB-SUA standards.
